Shipping FAQ's
Generally I do not sell pastel paintings on the web with mats and frames. Framing is very individualized; dependent on where you plan to hang it, personal color preferences and varying costs. I feel that it is best for you to choose your mat and frame.
However, if you would prefer that I have your painting framed, prices begin at $150. This will also increase the shipping cost due to weight. If you are a buyer please email me with your questions.
How can I be sure that my painting will arrive undamaged?
I carefully ship all my paintings.
First they are mounted on a 3/16" or heavier foam core board that is 2" larger all round the artwork. The artwork is then taped on 4 corners to the board.
Then glassine paper (a smooth surfaced clear paper that does does not act as a magnet for the pastel particles) is taped securely on all sides.
Another foam core board the same size as the first one is placed over all and taped securely.
This is then placed into a packing box that is slightly larger than the foam core. As an additional precaution your painting will be insured. If by any remote chance the painting is damaged (proof will be required) I will reimburse you once I receive the painting.

ABOUT PASTELS

FRAMING
Pastel paintings require the surface be protected by glazing (glass being the most preferred). Pastel works of art generally require a minimum of 1/4" between the surface of the pastel and the glazing. The glazing should be cleaned on both sides with anti-static cleaner especially if Plexiglas or acrylic glazing is used. Loose particles may be drawn to the inside surface of the glazing otherwise.
It is wise to insert a spacer between the surface of the pastel and the mat for loose pastel particles to fall into. Before putting the pastel painting in place, tap the back to get rid of excess dust. Some artists spray their work but others prefer not to as the colours may change.
